Creative Ways to Raise Money

When it comes to helping animals, Nico and Kaya let their feet do the talking. After visiting Farm Sanctuary in New York, they decided to hold their very own Walk for Farm Animals. They had their friends and family sponsor them and the event was a huge success! The girls walked three miles and raised more than $200 for the critters!

Dillon’s love for farm animals is unmistakable and, at age fourteen, he has already put this love into action. After learning about the cruelty of factory farming and visiting the rescued critters at Farm Sanctuary, he decided to go vegan. Over the past few years, he has raised hundreds of dollars for Farm Sanctuary by using a portion of his allowance money to sponsor animals living at our California Shelter. He even decided to celebrate his 13th birthday at Farm Sanctuary, surrounded by people and animals touched by his kindness and compassion.

Twelve-year-old Suzette and her ten-year-old brother Zack put their compassion for farm animals into action everyday. Both Zack and Suzette are vegans — and they are as healthy and happy as can be! Zack's favorite food is pizza (minus the cheese, of course) and Suzette loves tofu. Together, Zack and Suzette have raised more than $2,500 for Farm Sanctuary over the past few years, by asking for donations instead of presents on their birthdays. They currently sponsor two rabbits, two chickens and a turkey who live at Farm Sanctuary in California, and they visit as often as they can.

Committed to making a positive difference in the lives of animals, Jamie donates a portion of the Hanukkah gift money she receives each year to worthy organizations like Farm Sanctuary. Last year, she also remembered the animals during the celebration of her Bat Mitzvah, by performing good deeds on their behalf. One of the good deeds she performed was to organize a food and supply drive for the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. Another good deed was to make generous donations to several different animal protection groups. She sent Farm Sanctuary a check for $200 — and the animals definitely thank her for it!
