Eats

Cutting meat, milk and eggs out of your diet doesn't mean you can never eat yummy food again! Don't be afraid of trying new things, and you may be surprised by how much you really like eating and experimenting with vegetarian foods. Check out some of the great things you can enjoy on an animal-free diet:

  • Veggie meat (usually made out of soy or wheat) may sound a little funny, but it is becoming more popular every day. The following tasty foods can be used to make some really great meals:
    • Fake "Chicken" (comes in strips, patties, nuggets, cutlets, and more)
    • Veggie Dogs (great grilled or added to baked beans)
    • Burgers (eat these on a bun with all the fixin's)
    • Deli Slices (come in flavors like "turkey," "bologna" and "salami")
    • Other Fake Meats (try BBQ "ribs," "meatballs," "ground beef," "sausages," and more)

  • Baked tofu (made from soybeans) can also be used instead of meat in many recipes. This kind of tofu comes in barbecue, teriyaki, spicy, and many more great flavors and can be added to stir fries or sliced for sandwiches.
  • Dairy-free milk (made from soy, rice, nuts, and oats) can be used just like cow's milk and even comes in flavors like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
  • Animal-free desserts (made without eggs or dairy) taste just as great as any treats you've eaten before. Don't miss out on the following vegetarian foods:
    • Ice cream (sandwiches, bars, pints, and popsicles come in many amazing flavors and are made from soy, rice or nuts)
    • Pudding (made from soy and come in flavors like vanilla and chocolate)
    • Dairy-free chocolate (used to make many candies, bars and truffles)
    • Brownies, cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, and more (easily made without eggs or milk)
  • More animal-friendly foods (often made from soy) that easily replace ones that come from animals are:
    • Veggie Sour Cream (perfect with baked potatoes or tacos)
    • Veggie Cream Cheese (great on bagels)
    • Soy Cheese (comes in flavors like cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella)
    • Margarine (tastes just like butter)
  • Other plant foods (beans, vegetables and grains) can also replace meat in many meals. These kinds of food are very healthy and can be found anywhere. Try using beans instead of meat in a burrito, grains in chili or more veggies in stir fry.

Get out there and try and as many vegetarian foods as you can. Before long, you will surely find your new favorites. The animals will thank you for it! Click here to check out some great veg recipes. Share them with your friends!
