Rabbit fossils have been discovered that date back 30-40 million years. A rabbit's eyes are set on the side of the head to allow almost 360-degree vision. A rabbit's sensitive ears can be turned in any direction to alert them of danger. Rabbits' teeth are always growing. They need to be constantly worn down by chewing and gnawing. A female rabbit can have as many as 8 baby rabbits in a litter. Newborn rabbits are called kittens. Though generally quiet, rabbits are capable of making loud screams when frightened or injured.
