Animal Species Each animal at Farm Sanctuary has his or her own story to tell and each is very lucky to be here. Many of our animals were rescued from abuse and neglect. Whether they were mistreated for long years, or left alone to die just days after they were born, they all share something in common. They have all, at one time or another, been harmed by people who looked at them and treated them like objects rather than living beings. Here at Farm Sanctuary, of course, we see farm animals as more than "things" to be bought and sold. To us, they are precious, living creatures, capable of feeling joy, fear, and hurt. They each have their own personalities and quirks, their own likes and dislikes and their own desires and painful memories.
